No extra solar planet project meeting this weekend due to Homecoming
Conference call with the Ouida Springer Elementary Astronomy Club on Friday

Meet at 1:40 pm in the lobby of Steward Observatory

Sabino Canyon public star party event this Saturday, contact Kevin if you are interested
Our next star party will be November 20th, location TBD
Astronomy Club officers will hold office hours for club members, hours TBD
Local Group project meeting Thanksgiving weekend
Don McCarthy presented another question of the week and explained the Sabino Canyon project

Problems of the week:

1. Say that cucumbers are on sale, so you buy 100 pounds of them at
your market. The cucumbers are 99% water. Some days later, they dry
out to 98% water. How much do they weigh now?

2. Nellie Knowital says that the gasoline in a automobile's gas tank
is only about one-fourth of the amount of fuel that runs the engine.
Is she correct? [HINT: Internal combustion engines normally run on one
part gasoline to 14 parts air by mass.]

Nov 7th- Sabino Canyon star party program with Sky Center

4th graders teleconference looking successful. Meeting next week 12:50-1:45 pm.
10/31 extra solar planet project meeting at 10 am in Steward rm 208. Talk to Kevin if going for first time. Call to be let into Steward.

Guest Speaker Al Grauer gave a presentation about the NF/ Observatory webscope
We will have a movie night this Friday, October 9th in Steward Observatory at 7pm
There will NOT be an extrasolar planet project meeting this weekend
Next weekend on Sunday, October 18th we will be going to the 61 inch telescope on Mt. Bigelow for a tour of the facility
We will have a teleconference with the Ouida Springer Elementary School Astronomy Club this Friday at 1:15pm in the SkyCenter office in Steward Observatory.
If you have not paid dues, please try to do so asap!

We will have no Extrasolar Planet Project meeting this weekend since we do not have computer accounts set up yet and we are waiting for new hard drives for the server to come in
We had Dr. Don McCarthy give a very nice presentation about the International Year of Astronomy and recent findings about things discovered by Galileo

We have the opportunity to work with a 4th grade Astronomy Club in Texas via webcam once or twice a month. More details will be posted soon.
We will be meeting to work on the Extrasolar Planet Project on Saturday, September 19th at 10am in Steward Observatory room 208. If you do not have access to the building, please call Kevin at (208) 440-4650.
Next week our adviser, Dr. John Bieging will be making an appearance at our meeting to introduce himself.
We will try to work on our Local Group Project sometime soon. Dustin has a new idea for an easy structure that we can build.
Please remember to pay dues.
If you are available on Monday, September 28th to go to the Cooper Center, we will be volunteering to show 4th grade students the night sky. Please email Kevin if you're interested.

Star Party - Friday, September 11th

Location: Catalina State Park
Meet: Steward Observatory/Psychology parking lot
Bring: Items for a potluck barbeque, and possibly a light jacket

Katie - Cups and Paper Plates and Couscous

Please let Kevin know if you want to go to the Star Party, if you are able to drive, and what barbeque item you are bringing. (We still need Charcoal, Lighter Fluid, S'mores, etc...)

If the weather is Star Party unfriendly, we will just have a movie night/potluck in Steward Observatory

Dues - Remember to pay dues ($15) for this semester. This can be paid to any of the officers. Money from dues goes toward Astronomy Club projects and trips.
ASUA Funding Proposal - If you would like to help out in writing a proposal to ASUA for funding for our Binocular Telescope Project, please meet up in the Steward Observatory computer lab (208) at 4pm on Wednesday, September 9th.

Star Party!

We will be holding a summer star party on Mt. Lemmon on Monday, July 20th. Plan to meet up with us in the Steward Observatory parking lot at 6pm so we can head over to University for dinner. Extrasolar Planet Light Curve
