I have an indelible urge to share the majesty and wonder of the universe with everyone around me. I am currently a telescope operator for the Raymond E. White telescope of the Steward Observatory and am also a member of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) as well as the Skeptics Club.

I love philosophy and enjoy healthy debate on issues of morality and politics, particularly as it relates to corporate globalism and the military-industrial complex. As a hobby, I enjoy cooking (I was a cook at an assisted living facility for the better part of a year, feeding around 60 residents), art, as well as working out and playing tennis and racquetball. I'm also fond of music and am currently trying to hone my skills at the guitar. If anyone reading this is interested in the Astronomy Club or astronomy in general, don't hesitate to contact me (bguvenen@email.arizona.edu/602-363-1541). Main areas of interest: extrasolar planets, galactic structure, and galactic evolution. Other interests: molecular and evolutionary biology, physiology, ecology, and climatology.

Current projects in the Astronomy Club include a scale model of the galactic Local Group for educational and outreach purposes, as well as a project to build a Small Binocular Telescope, which, if completed, would be the only student-built telescope of its kind.
